SPRING CHINOOK SALMON
MARCH 16TH - MAY 15TH |
Spring
Chinook
Usually kicks off in mid-March and runs through late May and
depends on what the state will allow before shutting the river
system down. Quick limits along with multiple limits for the boat
easily allow the state to shut it down. It usually starts on
March 16th at Bonneville Dam and runs till the last week in
April, when the season is shut down for that particular part of
the river system. We then move up river to Drano Lake and the
Wind River. Daily limits are easily taken until the end of May.
Fishing at John Day Dam along with McNary Dam is also encouraged,
depending on dam counts and daily catch rates. We will be back to
using trolling plugs and fresh bait; fish usually run between 10
to 30lbs. |

The Columbia is most famous for its runs
of Salmon but one of the up and coming fisheries is the Walleye
Fishing. Because of its perfect water conditions and the consistent
amount of food it is expected that the Columbia will produce the next
Worlds Record Walleye.
Of course the Salmon fishing on the Columbia is some of the best
in the world. The Columbia is well known for its Chinook Salmon runs but
did you know that it also has large runs of Coho, Sockeye, and Shad?
If Steelhead Fishing is what you are looking to do the Columbia has an
amazing run of winter steelhead. Mid Columbia River Fishing Guides
offers steelhead fishing in the Mid Columbia areas but through our
sister company Columbia River Guides you can also fish for
Steelhead in the upper Columbia or even into the Snake River system. |
